The Secretariat

The Secretariat acts as the operations, coordination and communication (internal & external) hub. In addition, it assists the Task Forces, particularly in stakeholder dialogues, deduction of political recommendations, marketing, networking & liasing and fundraising.

Kuehr, Ruediger (Executive Secretary)

Since January 2010 Head of the United Nations University Institute for Sustainability & Peace (UNU-ISP) Operational Unit in Germany. From 1999 till 2009 he served as Head of the European Focal Point of United Nations University's Zero Emissions Forum in Bonn (Germany). He was Secretary of the Alliance for Global Eco-Structuring (AGES) and is a Political and Social Scientist by education.

Administrative Project Assistant at the United Nations University Zero Emissions Forum (UNU/ZEF) and the United Nations University Vice-Rectorate in Europe (UNU-ViE). He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities from Ohio State University.

Drenhaus, Mark

Research Assistant at United Nations University's Zero Emissions Forum (UNU-ZEF). He holds a Master in law from the University Paris II and another one from the University of Fribourg, Mark is now a PhD-Candidate in law at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland).

Magalini, Federico

Mechanical Engineering MSc and PhD in Management Economics and Industrial Engineer at Politecnico di Milano University (Italy). Prior to joining UNU, Federico has been researcher in the field of Management of WEEE at Politecnico Universitiy and consultant for Italian and International associations and enterprises. He is currently Operations Manager in Ecoped/Ridomus, WEEE take back Schemes in Italy.

Maurer, Claudia

Research Associate at UNU’s Zero Emissions Forum. Prior to joining UNU, Claudia has worked for the German Ministry for Environment and Nature Protection, Agriculture and Consumer Protection Northrhine-Westphalia, where she has been an associate at the minister’s office.

Sinha Khetriwal, Deepali

Deepali Sinha Khetriwal is a Research Assistent to the StEP Secretariat seconded from the Swiss EMPA. She holds a Masters in Economics from the University of Pune, India, as well as an International Management MSc from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. She is currently a doctoral student, with her research focus on modelling e-waste management systems.
