UNU and BCRC Beijng are finalizing plans for the first stakeholder workshop and StEP Open Meeting to be held in Beijing (China) on 16 &17 July 2012. The two-day event includes presentations introducing the current e-waste situation in China, as well as in-depth discussions to identify participating stakeholders’ key priority issues and target areas on electronics management, with the goal of identifying opportunities for improved coordination to strengthen ongoing and future activities. The discussions will also facilitate stakeholder input into the background paper and a stakeholder map. Participation is by invitation only. Participants include both domestic and international stakeholders, with delegates from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), recyclers, refurbishers, academia, NGOs, development cooperation (bilateral & multilateral) and the Chinese authorities.
