8th December

Joint conference session

StEP organized a joint conference session with Closing the Loop and PREVENT Waste Alliance at the WCEF 2022 in Kigali

Title: Practical Implementation of the Basel PIC Procedure for Exporters from Developing Countries

The Basel PIC procedure is an important process to be able to export waste from developing countries, and therefore to develop a good recycling industry in these countries. The process is however rather complicated and unclear. As a follow-up to the paper that was published as a joint PREVENT/StEP initiative (see here), next steps were explored. The WCEF Accelerator Session focused on how the industry could be supported in complying with the Basel PIC regulations, working together with regulators and the industry.
