Lithium-Ion batteries are increasingly used in electronic products and since a couple of years end up in the waste stream. Electronic recyclers face major challenges when handling lithium-ion batteries. The webinar will provide insight into the different types of lithium-ion batteries and their uses, show experiences from electronic recyclers and explain safety precautions during storage, handling, and transportation.

George Kerchner
Executive Director of PRBA - The Rechargeable Battery Association

George has extensive experience with U.S. and international hazardous materials and dangerous goods transportation regulations and represents the PRBA and other battery trade associations at domestic and international transportation forums. He has experience in the environmental law, policy, and regulatory fields and focuses on issues affecting the rechargeable battery industries as well as the portable electronics and electric vehicle industries.

Neil Peters-Michaud
CEO and co-founder of Cascade Asset Management

Neil is a Certified Hardware Asset Management Professional, has served on the Joint Committee for the development of the EPEAT server standard, was on the Committee of Experts to develop the e-Stewards Standard, and assisted the EPA, StEP and World Bank on a computer recycling project in Ethiopia.

Robert Kang
CEO and co-founder, Blue Whale Materials

Blue Whale is currently setting up a lithium-Ion Battery Recycling facility in the US with proprietary technology that significantly reduces processing time increases efficiency in the metals recovered.  In the past four years, Blue Whale has shipped over 4 Million pounds of spent lithium-ion batteries and manufacturing scrap abroad from the US for processing.
